LC 14 blockhouse, this is the launch
complex where Mercury and Atlas rocket launch's took place,
and where John Glenn was launched in Friendship 7 to become
the first American to orbit the Earth. 10 foot thick concrete
and steel walls provided protection to the launch crew
inside. Periscopes were used to monitor the launch pad. |
