Tibet

Photographs by Shaun O'Boyle

I tried to get a photograph of the Potala Palace from Lhasa without all the city buildings in the foreground, and this was the best I managed. I noticed I was being followed these by two chinese officers here, but they never directly approached me, so I went about my business.

There is a beautiful park on the back side of the palace that is very nice, you can rent row boats on a pond, and there are open grass areas where families and pilgrims were gathered warming in the sun and eating picnics. It was too dark inside the potalla palace to get any photographs, and no flash allowed, but below is one of the entrances to the palace, next to the door was a man spinning a large prayer wheel.
